| Who is D.C. Wood? The chronicler revealed...“Follow your dreams. You CAN meet your goals. I’M living proof. BEEFCAKE! BEEFCAKE!” - Eric Cartman. My full name is Daniel Christopher Wood, and I was born on the 24th April 1985.
My interests consist of writing, drawing, reading, wrestling, comics, films, telly, comedy, science-fiction/fantasy, music...basically all the stuff that comes under ‘ace’.
Under royal circumstances, I am LORD Daniel Christopher Wood of Ryecroft. I’ve got the certificate to prove it! It’s the truth, I swear. THIS PHOTO proves it, so don’t knock my lordship-thing!
Writing-wise, my interest with the stuff started at school. English was my second-favourite subject (Art was my first). I always loved writing stories and poems as it really allowed me to take my imagination out of the brain-draw and just run wild with it.
One day, I just decided, “What the hell!”, and had a go at writing a book. Basically it was regarding my philosphies of life, what was cool about it and what wasn’t. Needless to say, it didn’t quite pan out. Partly due to my inexperience with a computer at the time, but mostly because I felt it wouldn’t be the success I wanted it to be or something that people would want to read.
After passing my GCSEs, I turned to Macclesfield College. Which was one of the best moves I’ve EVER made in my life. I did a computer course for three years and became much more PC-literate. During that time, I had another go at writing a book, going for a more appealing subject. It would be about who I thought were the fifty greatest villains in all of fiction.
I thought it was a great idea, and I actually managed to complete half of it before enthusiasm fizzled out, realistic viewpoint kicked in, and I gave up. Deciding it just wouldn’t work.
Two years after that, I was now able to use computers with ease and had become an experienced web-browser. I soon discovered the art of fan-fiction.
Transformers, Batman, Final Fantasy VII; all the godlike stuff out there had amazing pieces of prose written by all these different cults of die-hard fans. I was greatly impressed with the quality of the writing of some of these stories, and how many talented writers there are out there.
Immediately, my desire to write was renewed and I wrote a fan fiction based on my favourite PS2 game, Kingdom Hearts, called ‘New Era of Darkness. This time, I wrote a story from start to finish, and was able to know instantly that people would want to read it.
The positive feedback I received was so heart-warming and gratifying. Inspired, I carried on by writing more fan fiction, joined a writer’s group, writing poetry, writing and starring in my own fan film series and have also written my first-ever novel, ‘The Saviour’.
In 2009, I realized my dream of seeing ‘The Saviour’ published, three years after completing it. After a successful launch and making profit, it has now being prepared for re-release under Artemis Publishing! I have also gone on to writing well-received reviews on Amazon, which has led to me becoming part of the Amazon Vine programme. I have written and performed an audiobook called "Nameless" and animated and produced my own web-cartoon "D.C. Wood's AWFUL poems...ON STAGE!!!"
I am currently working on my second online audiobook based on the cult television series "Queen of Swords", various fan fiction, poetry and prose, whilst making a living at WHSmith in Macclesfield. I remain determined as ever to fulfill my destiny. Do I have other plans for my career and life? Course I do. But what are they? All answers eventually come to light.
